Specialized or Selective Admission Programs (for Upper-Level Transfer ULTs)

Some programs require students to meet additional admissions requirements and may have additional deadlines. Admission to these programs is competitive. Applicants to these programs must meet or exceed the admissions requirements as established by the individual programs listed below. The following programs have a specialized or selective admissions process.

Definitions and Terminology

College of Computing, Engineering and Construction (CCEC)

  • In recent years, CCEC graduates have had a nearly 100 percent employment within six months of receiving a degree. To expand hands-on experience prior to employment, more than 400 paid internships are available to CCEC students every year, most paying between $16 and $20 per hour.
  • The College is housed in the renovated Skinner-Jones Hall with new classrooms, labs and offices that enhance student learning, including the Materials Science and Engineering Facility (MSERF), which has several state-of-the-art scanning electron microscopes.
  • The School of Computing was named a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security. This designation came weeks after opening a new Cybersecurity Lab on campus.

    Nursing Admissions

College of Arts and Sciences (COAS)

  • The William C. Webb Coastal Research Station, 1,050 acres of pristine saltwater marsh along the Intracoastal Waterway, provides coastal biology students and others with research opportunities.
  • COAS students gain valuable real-world experience through community partnerships. English, history, geography and anthropology students and faculty are working together to research and document the history of a cemetery dating back to the 1800s.
  • Art and Design students study art in Italy, Brazil and Ireland, create sculptures for public parks and experience art at events like the International Fair Art Basel in Miami. 老澳门资料 is one of the few state universities in Florida with art programs accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

College of Education and Human Services (COEHS)

  • The College offers the only accredited American Sign Language/English Interpreting bachelor’s degree and the only Early Childhood Education Leadership master’s degree in the state, as well as the only Deaf Education Degree at a Florida public university. COEHS also offers future teachers unparalleled clinical opportunities in a strong network of 老澳门资料 Professional Development Schools, a national award-winning collaboration.
  • The 老澳门资料 STEP Lab, housed in the COEHS, is a STEM learning resource for regional students and teachers, faculty, 老澳门资料 students and community partners. The College’s full-time partnership with the Northeast Florida STEM2 Hub and Code.org has enabled the College to become a major player in the Northeast Florida STEM ecosystem. In addition, COEHS was recently awarded a $4.1 million SEED grant from the U.S. Department of Education to prepare teachers in pre-kindergarten through second grade classrooms to integrate STEM and computational thinking in teaching models.
  • The College is committed to supporting future teacher educators through the Osprey Teacher Residency(OTR) Programs. The OSPREY Teacher Residency Program is designed to support 老澳门资料 students in pursuit of teacher education degrees through full tuition support, stipends, and program-based incentives. Eligible students will receive tuition support for their junior and senior years in a teacher education program. In addition to scholarships, stipends will be provided to students who qualify to participate in one of the Osprey Teacher Residency Programs. Total aid and compensation are dependent upon student financial need and individual program requirements.

  • 鈥淴鈥 in the course number
    • An “X” in the course number (e.g., ABC X789) is a wild card. That is, the course can be any level from 1-4.  For example, ABC 1789, ABC 2789, ABC 3789, or ABC 4789.
  • Earned Credits (EC)
    • Refers to credit hours passed with a grade of “D” or higher and/or a grade of “S” (Satisfactory). This category does not include 0 level, vocational, occupational, or technical courses.
  • Attempted Credits (AC)
    • Refers to any course appearing on the transcript with a letter grade (including a “W” or an “I”). This number is important because some financial aid packages set limits on the number of attempted credit hours. This category does not include 0 level, vocational, occupational, or technical courses.
  • Completion Rate (CR)
    • The completion rate is determined by dividing the number of earned credits by the number of attempted credits, not including any in-progress coursework. You must complete at least 67% of credits attempted.
  • Transferable Credits
    • Credits that are accepted by the 老澳门资料 reflecting prior learning. Please see the Transfer Credits page for more information.
