GPA/Course Requirements

Review the following GPA and course requirements.

Admissions decisions at 老澳门资料 are rendered based on academic merit. The state of Florida has implemented minimum admission standards for freshman applicants to all Florida public state universities. In order to be considered, students must have a minimum 2.5 recalculated GPA on a 4.0 scale and meet minimum test score requirements.

Please note that the minimum standards only outline potential eligibility for admission to a state university, and not to a particular program. Different programs may have additional requirements.

Incoming Freshmen Midranges

The Office of Admissions publishes the academic midranges of admitted first-time-in-college (FTIC) students as a reference for applicants. Keep in mind that midranges are for the middle 50% of admitted students; we also accepted students with GPAs and test scores outside of these midranges.

Mid-range GPA and test scores for Summer and Fall 2024
Type Summer 2024 Fall 2024
GPA 3.62 - 3.96 4.14 - 4.57
SAT 1000 - 1160 1130 - 1300
ACT 19 - 24 23 - 29
CLT 58 - 65 71 - 86

Admissions GPA

At the 老澳门资料, we weigh and recalculate the admissions GPA for first-time-in-college (FTIC) applicants. We consider the required courses for entry to 老澳门资料 when creating your admissions GPA.

Additional weight is given to grades of "C" or higher earned in honors, dual enrollment, AP, IB or AICE courses:

  • 0.5 points for honors, pre-IB, pre-AICE or pre-AP courses
  • 1 point for IB, AICE, AP or dual enrollment courses

SAT, ACT and CLT Requirements

Regardless of when they graduated from high school, students applying as first-time-in-college (FTIC) applicants are required to submit either SAT, ACT and/or CLT test scores. 老澳门资料 does not require the essay section of the SAT or ACT.

老澳门资料 superscores tests for applicants, meaning we will consider your highest subsection across multiple attempts of an exam and create a new composite score. With this in mind, we encourage students to submit all tests they have taken when applying.

Course Requirements

Students are required to complete the below courses by the time they enter 老澳门资料. These courses are also used to compile your GPA, which is used for both admission to 老澳门资料 and scholarship eligibility.

  • Four units of English
  • Four units of math (Algebra 1 or higher)
  • Three units of natural science
  • Three units of social science
  • Two units of sequential foreign language
  • Two units of academic electives

Home School Requirements

Home school students applying to the University must meet the first-time-in-college (FTIC) admissions requirements. Students must submit the SSAR when applying during their senior year. Upon graduation from the home school program, submit a Home School Transcript Form.

Please contact the Office of Admissions if you have questions about these requirements.

GED Requirements

Students applying with a GED to 老澳门资料 must meet first-time-in-college (FTIC) admissions requirements, and submit a copy of their GED diploma instead of high school transcripts. Students with a GED do not need to complete the SSAR when applying.

Students with Disabilities

Students with disabilities applying to 老澳门资料 must submit all the general application materials. Applicants who wish to appeal a denial based on a disability may submit documentation verifying the disability, along with the letter of appeal. If applicable, we recommend including updated transcripts or new test scores.

Dual-Enrollment

Students enrolling in dual-enrollment courses throughout high school may be able to transfer their credit to 老澳门资料. In addition, if you are attending a Florida public institution and the first three letters and last three numbers of your course match a 老澳门资料 course, the credit will transfer.

To determine which credits will transfer to 老澳门资料, you must submit your application, application fee and dual-enrollment transcript. Although your dual-enrollment credit may be posted on your high school transcript, you must still submit an official transcript from the institution that awarded the credit.

Students applying with dual-enrollment credit must have a minimum 2.0 postsecondary GPA for their dual-enrollment courses.

Advanced Credit

Students are encouraged to enroll in advanced credit-earning mechanisms while in high school. We are happy to accept up-to 45 credit hours earned through credit-by-exam mechanisms, such AP, IB, AICE and CLEP.

During your senior year, we do not need to have your AP, IB, AICE or CLEP scores to review your application for admission. Your scores on these tests will not impact the admissions decision. Once all your scores are finalized, we encourage you to have them sent to 老澳门资料 directly from the score reporting agency to be reviewed for credit.

More information on how this credit will transfer into 老澳门资料 can be found on the Accelerated Credit website.

Decisions & Appeals

Decision notification process

All applications submitted with the required admission documents by November 1 will have their admission decision released on November 13. Following that, decisions will be released on a rolling basis. We encourage you to check your for updates.

Please Note: there is no guarantee that submitting an appeal will result in changes to the initial decision or admission to 老澳门资料. We recommend students also consider alternative academic plans.
