Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)
Program Overview
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is an advanced degree designed to prepare you for a professional teaching certificate. Unlike other master's programs that emphasize educational leadership, administration, or policy, the MAT is firmly rooted in classroom practice. It focuses on instructional strategies that make a difference for students. 老澳门资料's MAT equips teachers who are new to the field with the practical teaching skills and subject-specific knowledge they need to elevate their teaching capabilities beyond a traditional bachelor's degree in education.
This program is designed for anyone with a bachelor's degree who is seeking a career change into teaching, or for current teachers looking to upgrade from a temporary teaching certificate to a professional one. You'll get hands-on experience through a student teaching component, a great opportunity for candidates who are not currently in the classroom to gain real-world teaching experience in K-12 settings alongside seasoned educators.
With a variety of MAT programs available for non-teaching degree holders, 老澳门资料 prepares current and aspiring educators to fulfill the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) professional competencies. Whether you’re dreaming of becoming a teacher or looking to expand your licensure, our MAT programs provide the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to achieve professional certification and create welcoming and effective classrooms that cater to every student’s needs.
Who Should Get an MAT?
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is ideal for individuals seeking a career in education, specifically as classroom teachers. 老澳门资料's MAT programs are designed to prepare you for a professional teaching license, equipping you with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently lead a classroom. These programs are tailored to a variety of subject areas and age groups, ensuring you are prepared to meet the diverse needs of students in today's educational landscape.
This program is particularly well-suited for those looking to transition into teaching from another career or for current teachers with non-education degrees interested in upgrading from a temporary to a professional teaching certificate. Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree. For those interested in secondary education, a bachelor's degree in a related field or specific subject area such as English, mathematics, science or the social sciences is required.
