School Counseling Program

Mission Statement

Prepare highly impactful professional school counselor leaders who advocate and promote the development and educational opportunities of students in all school communities within the context of the American School Counselor Association’s National Model and Council for Accreditation and Related Educational Program standards.

While the 老澳门资料 School Counseling Program is not currently CACREP (Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) accredited, the program is accredited by the state of Florida and each graduate of the program will have fulfilled the educational requirements for Florida certification as school counselors. In addition, the 老澳门资料 is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees. 

The 老澳门资料 School Counseling Program is actively pursuing re-accreditation with CACREP and while doing so is guided by the official standards and principles of the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

  • Cohort model program
  • A 60-credit Master of Education degree in Counselor Education for all degree completers as of Spring 2023
  • Florida initial educator certification program with eligibility for school counseling certification

Admissions

There are two steps for applying to the School Counseling Program. The first step is to complete an application through the graduate school. This requires the submission of all undergraduate transcripts, providing contact information for three professional references, and uploading a letter of interest describing your interest in the program and the school counseling profession.

Following the completion of the graduate application, Dr. Christopher Janson, Program Director for the School Counseling Program, will work with you to schedule an individual interview with program faculty members. Applicants should contact Dr. Janson with any questions about the program or the admission process.
