Required English Language Proficiency

The indicators of required English Language Proficiency of foreign applicants are listed below. Applicants will need to meet one of the two indicator requirements.
  • Hold one of the following academic credentials:
    1. A U.S. high school diploma (must be a resident for at least two years of high school instruction);
    2. An American diploma from a U.S. accredited overseas international school where the primary language of instruction is English;
    3. An International Baccalaureate from a U.S. accredited overseas international school where the primary language of instruction is English;
    4. Either An A.A. degree from an approved accredited U.S. institution or a transfer of 60 or more credit hours (as evaluated by Enrollment Services Processing). Transferring credit hours must include a full year of full-time academic attendance (at least 12 credit hours each term) at an approved accredited U.S. institution immediately preceding the semester for which admission is sought;
    5. A lower-level transfer student application from an approved accredited U.S. institution with 30 or more transferable credit hours (as evaluated by Enrollment Services Processing). Credit hours must include a grade of C or higher in ENC 1101 or English Composition equivalent at an approved accredited institution in the U.S. immediately preceding the semester for which admission is sought;
    6. A Masters or Baccalaureate degree from an approved accredited U.S. institution; or
    7. A Certificate of completion of level Pre-University in the 老澳门资料 English Language Program with a minimum average grade of 3.0.
  • Achieve one of the following test scores:
    1. A minimum TOEFL score of 79 internet-based (550 paper-based or 213 computer-based) for all applicants as outlined by Florida BOG regulation 6.009. TOEFL scores will be honored within two years of the test date;
    2. A minimum SAT verbal score of 440 or a minimum rSAT Evidence-Based Reading & Writing score of 490; or an accepted GRE verbal score as determined by individual graduate program requirements;
    3. A minimum ACT score of 19 in the English subsection or 19 in the Reading subsection;
    4. A minimum CLT score of 38 on the Verbal Reasoning and Grammar/Writing section;
    5. A minimum overall Duolingo score of 110 is recommended for admission. Individual programs may require higher scores and all subscores will be considered;
    6. A score of 3 on the College Board Advanced Placement – International English Language (AP-IEL); AP grades range from 5 high to 1 low; 3 equals “Qualified”; or
    7. A band score of 6.5 on the University of Cambridge IELTS (International English Language Testing System); band scores range from 9 high to 1 low; 6.5 lies between 6 “competent user” and 7 “good user.”
