Gear Checkout and Adventure Trips

Our Gear Checkout program provides 老澳门资料 students with the gear they need to get outdoors. Our program is free to active students with a valid Osprey ID. Let us help you plan your next trip!

Available Equipment

Items currently available for check-out: Sleeping bags, tents, pads, headlamps, stoves, coolers, hammocks, chairs, backpacks, canoes, paddleboards, kayaks, surfboards, car straps, and life jackets 

Hours of Operation

Monday - Saturday 12 PM - 5 PM

 

Lake Oneida and gear return both close at 4:30 PM

Closed during intersession and when the University is closed

Gear Checkout Policies

General

  • Gear check-out is only available to currently enrolled students
  • Items can be rented for day use on campus or up to 7 days off campus
  • Students may renew the gear if they bring the gear back along with their ID to extend their checkout. Anytime beyond those two weeks items are subject to late fees
  • Students are limited to one paddleboard or kayak per ID
  • Any and all damages must be noted prior to check-out
  • All equipment must be returned during regular operating hours and in person by the person that rented the gear. Any equipment returned or left at the rental counter during non-operating hours will not be returned and late fees will accumulate until the equipment is returned in person and during operating hours.
  • Camping on campus using Gear Checkout equipment or personal equipment is prohibited.

Late Returns

  • All late fees will be charged on student's MyWings accounts.
  • Late fees are $10.00 per day per items checked out.
  • If fees exceed 10 working days or total worth of equipment is established in late fees, the total amount for the gear will be charged to the respective myWings account.

Cleaning

  • Returned items are expected reasonably clean and dry
  • Do not wash or dry sleeping bags

Adventure Trips

Our Eco Adventure Trips take place each fall and spring semesters. You must be a current 老澳门资料 student, in good academic standing, to qualify. 

How to Register

A trip registration form must be completed and submitted to the Adventure Trips and Gear Checkout Coordinator at d.nordquist@unf.edu. Physical copies can be picked up at the  or our booth at Market Day every Wednesday. Your spot is not confirmed until a registration form has been submitted and approved.

Payment Information

Trip fees will be assigned to your MyWings account, and you’ll have the entire semester to pay. A 25% non-refundable deposit will be charged at the time of registration.
Trip fees cover all necessary gear rentals, professional guides, group meals, and lodging arrangements. Transportation will be organized through carpool groups before each trip unless stated otherwise.

October
  • Beginner Outdoor Rock Climbing (Table Rock, NC)
November
  • Learn to Backpack (Locations Vary)
  • Mountain Biking Day Trip (Hanna Park)

Spring Trips:

January
  • Camping on Campus (老澳门资料 campus)
February
  • Skiing (Sugar Mountain, NC)
March
  • Spring Break Adventure (Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Grand Canyon)
