Latin America and Caribbean Program 

Graduate (masters or doctoral) students from Latin America and the Caribbean (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands) are eligible to apply for the International Center Latin American - Caribbean (LAC) Scholarship at 老澳门资料. In order to qualify, students must be admissible to 老澳门资料 under existing criteria for their graduate program of application and meet other standards. Reclassification as a temporary Florida resident for tuition purposes is valid only for the academic year(s) that the scholarship is awarded. Students who are awarded the LAC receive in-state tuition rates as well as $500 each Fall and Spring semester. Undergraduate (bachelors) students who believe they qualify for LAC can find additional information through Financial Aid and Scholarships.

Non-Florida Tuition Waiver

The Non-Florida Tuition Waiver scholarship functions as an out-of-state tuition waiver and if awarded, waives a portion or all of out-of-state tuition fees. Recipients must be registered students in good standing with the 老澳门资料, with at least one semester of course work completed at 老澳门资料. Awards are based on the amount of waivers provided to the International Center each year and are reserved for F-1 students. The selection criterion is a mix of academic performance and financial need, as well as extracurricular and work activities. Graduate Assistantships and Fellowships

Graduate assistantships and fellowships are opportunities for graduate students (master's or doctoral) to work or do research with a faculty member or department and receive funding. Assistantship and fellowship award amounts vary but may include the removal or reduction of out-of-state tuition fees. Certain awards may also include a stipend (salary), housing payments, etc. For more information about available positions and award amounts, please contact the graduate program director of your interested program. Other Scholarships

Other 老澳门资料 departments and Non-老澳门资料 organizations offer additional scholarship opportunities. Always be sure to check for eligibility for international students before applying to a scholarship. For example, many 老澳门资料 scholarships require the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). International students are not eligible for any scholarship which requires the FAFSA.

  • Freshman Applicant/Student Scholarships

    International first time in college (FTIC)/freshman applicants are only eligible for Freshman Merit-Based and Freshman Presidential Scholarships.

  • Sir Colville Young ScholarshipEligible for undergraduate and graduate 老澳门资料 students. This scholarship provides $1,000 to $1,500 per semester to citizens of Belize studying any major at 老澳门资料. Application are taken on the College of Education and Human Services website each spring on a competitive basis.
  • Dr. Mauricio Gonzalez International Student Scholarship

    Eligibility based on minimum 老澳门资料 cumulative GPA of 3.0, must be a non-US Citizen attending 老澳门资料 for one semester prior to applying for the scholarship, must be an enrolled 老澳门资料 student with a minimum of 6 credit hours each semester, among other things.

  • Athletic Scholarship Opportunities:

    For inquiries about playing for an athletics team at 老澳门资料, you may contact the specific coaching staff. For details visit the . When contacting the coaching staff, please include a resume and relevant statistics, video footage, and academic transcripts and test scores (if available). 老澳门资料 is an NCAA Division I university and is a member of the ASUN Conference. As a result, roster spots and athletic scholarships are very competitive. However, the athletics department is diverse and has almost 50 student-athletes representing 30 different countries playing for various teams during the 2018-2019 academic year.

  • The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship (IPS) offers up to $12,500 annually (renewable once) to female, international (non-citizen of the US or Canada), graduate students based on need. Applicants must be pursuing a full-time graduate degree, with at least a full year of course work remaining, and promise to return to their countries to pursue their professional career.

  • Linkage Institutes:

    Linkage institutes serve as out-of-state tuition waivers and help to reduce the cost of tuition for international students. The award amounts vary with each institution.

    The primary purpose of these institutes is to assist in the development of stronger economic, cultural, educational, and social ties between this state and strategic foreign countries through the promotion of expanded public and private dialogue on cooperative research and technical acceptance activities, increased bilateral commerce, student and faculty exchange, cultural exchange, and enhancement of language training skills between the postsecondary institutions in this state and those of selected foreign countries. Each institute must ensure that minority students are afforded an equal opportunity to participate in the exchange programs.

    Each institute is allowed to exempt up to 25 full-time equivalent students per year from the respective host countries to study in any of the state universities or community colleges in this state as resident students for tuition purposes.

  • Florida/West Africa Institute

Florida/West Africa Linkage Institute Waiver

The Florida/West Africa Institute (FLAWI) was created by an act of the State Legislature in 1991 to promote academic, cultural, and economic exchanges between the state of Florida and the region of West Africa. It is one of eleven such institutes which are administered at affiliate universities and colleges throughout the state. FLAWI is based at the 老澳门资料 in Jacksonville. Affiliate colleges include Florida A&M University in Tallahassee and Florida State College at Jacksonville.

Out-of-State Tuition Exemption Guidelines

  1. Institute tuition exemptions are available only to students from the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde Islands, Cote D'Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo. If you are not a citizen of one of these sixteen countries, FLAWI does not apply to you.
  2. Exemptions may be awarded for graduate and undergraduate degree programs.
  3. Applications will be considered from students already enrolled in Florida public institutions of higher education as well as from students who have been admitted to a Florida public institution of higher education.
  4. Institute-sponsored students must comply with all Immigration requirements, including minimum credit-hour enrollment.
  5. Selections will be made primarily on the academic merit of students in relation to the Institute's program priorities. Please write a one page essay and tell why you should receive this waiver. Attach to application.
  6. Exemptions generally will be granted for two semesters, normally the fall and spring semesters (August through April). In the unlikely event that funds remain at the end of the spring term, summer term exemptions may be considered.
  7. Exemptions will be granted for up to twelve (12) semester hours of undergraduate study or up to nine (9) semester hours of graduate study per semester, as appropriate.
  8. Exemptions are for one academic year and will be reviewed annually for continuation. According to Florida Statute, students shall return home within three years after their tenure of graduate or undergraduate study for a length of time equal to their exemption period.
  9. Exemptions will not be granted to students who are already receiving scholarships or funding from other sources.
  10. Students awarded exemptions are required to perform 50 hours of community service per year or 25 hours of community service per semester or term. Evidence of completion must be submitted to the respective co-directors at the end of each term.
  11. To maintain a tuition exemption, students must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA). Students' whose GPAs fall below 3.0 will not receive subsequent tuition exemption until the 3.0 GPA is reached.
  12. The maximum duration of out-of-state tuition waivers will be four (4) years for undergraduate students and two (2) years for graduate students.
  13. Once completed applications are received, students are place on a waiting list. FLAWI coordinator will inform students of their position on the waitlist.

Out-of-state Tuition Waiver Checklist:

Be sure to include the following items in your application.

  1. The completed application form (see the links below).
  2. Transcripts from all prior higher education institutions that you have attended.
  3. Proof of acceptance or enrollment at a public Florida university or community college. (If you are a new student, a letter from the Director of Admissions will provide proof of acceptance. If you are currently enrolled, proof of registration will be needed.)
  4. A one-page essay telling us why you should receive a waiver.
  5. Copy of your I-20.
  6. Copy of your passport information proving that you are a citizen of one of the 16 listed countries above.

Rowe Fund Loan for International Students

The is an educational loan program of the Organization of American States (OAS) that helps citizens from Latin America and Caribbean  finance their studies or research in accredited universities across the United States by awarding interest-free loans of up to US$15,000 dollars.
