Innovation Challenge Details 

The MedNexus Innovation Challenge is a competition that encourages high school students to participate in designing ideas for the future of healthcare through purpose-driven education. Teams of 2-5 students will come up with products or service ideas to address Sleep Deprivation in young adults.

What does the MedNexus Innovation Challenge Involve?

Phase 1: APPLICATION PROCESS 

Students are encouraged to find a team and research the challenge area of Sleep Deprivation to determine where they can adopt a change or improvement. Register your team online and explain in the application the product/service concept and how it creates a solution to the challenge.

Applications Open: Wednesday, September 7th

Applications Close: Sunday, October 9th 

Once the 老澳门资料 team receives applications, they will pick a max of 5 teams to participate in the MedNexus Innovation Challenge. Decisions will be released by October 7th.  

 

Phase 2*: THE BUSINESS PLAN (*If Selected)

 

Throughout October, the five selected teams will develop a strategic business pitch deck to support their product/service. The 老澳门资料 will connect each team with a 老澳门资料 Faculty member to provide feedback on their business model and pitch. 

October Schedule of Meetings 

  • MIC Virtual Team Meeting 1 - October 12th at 4:00pm
  • MIC Virtual Team Meeting 2 - October 19th at 4:00pm
  • MIC Virtual Team Meeting 3 - October 26th at 4:00pm
  • MIC Virtual Team Meeting 4 - November 2nd at 4:00pm

November 2nd-6th - Finalize/Complete Pitch Decks

All final pitch decks must be submitted to the 老澳门资料 team by Sunday, November 6th

Phase 3: THE PITCH  

The MedNexus Innovation Challenge culminates at the Pitch Competition where teams present their innovations before an esteemed panel of expert judges. Teams are scored and provided on-the-spot feedback from the judging panel, like on the hit TV show “Shark Tank.” This unique event gives students direct exposure to industry experts, corporations, investors and universities.

1st place winner-- $1,000 scholarship prize money per team member 
2nd place winner-- $750 scholarship prize money per team member

By the end of the Challenge, students become entrepreneurial problem-solvers, addressing challenging social, tech and health-related issues through utilizing their creativity and critical-thinking skills!
