Special Education: Disability Services

The Osprey Map provides a term-by-term sample schedule for each undergraduate academic program at the 老澳门资料. It is designed to guide students in the selection of courses each term. The "Mile Marker" courses are those courses that should be completed before or by the end of that term. Following the sample schedule, and completing the mile marker courses at the appropriate point of your undergraduate career, will facilitate graduation in four years. The term-by-term model assumes full-time enrollment. For students enrolled part-time, the sample schedule and mile markers should be followed based on the number of credits completed. The Osprey Map should be used in consultation with an academic advisor.

The Special Education major with a concentration in Disability Services is designed for students interested in working with individuals with disabilities in non-teaching careers. This unique concentration will prepare candidates to work with, supervise, advise, interact with, respect, and support individuals with disabilities. Incorporated in this concentration are authentic experiences where candidates work closely with individuals with disabilities, their families, businesses, and community agencies. Candidates in this program can expect to gain hands-on experiences working directly with various populations of individuals with disabilities. The program is sequential in nature, with some courses offered only once a year; therefore, students are requested and encouraged to enter in the fall term only. The program is a cohort model with cohorts beginning each Fall semester. Field 1 (EDF 3945) and Field 3 (EDF 3947) will only be offered in Fall semesters while Field 2 (EDF 3946) will only be offered in the Spring. Visit the Disability Services webpage for additional information. Students are encouraged to speak with College of Education faculty directly regarding questions about the Disability Services major.
