UPD Employment Information

The Department of Police and Public Safety at the 老澳门资料 is recognized as an innovator within the State University system and enjoys tremendous community support. In order to maintain these high standards, only the most qualified applicants are accepted for employment.

Minimum General Requirements

  • 19 years of age
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Thorough background investigation (including fingerprint check)
  • 20/20 vision or 20/20 vision with corrective lenses

Law Enforcement Officer

  • Certified Law Enforcement Officer in State of Florida
  • United States Citizen
  • Valid Florida Drivers' License
  • No dishonorable discharge from any branch of the military
  • No misdemeanor conviction involving perjury or false statement
  • No felony conviction
  • Pass medical examination
  • Physical agility assessment
  • Drug screening
  • Psychological
  • Written Aptitude Test
  • Polygraph

Police Communications Operator

  • Proficiency in typing
  • Ability to use computer
  • One year appropriate experience (college or vocational/technical training may substitute)
  • Must possess ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Pass FCIC/NCIC Teletype Certification
  • Pass Florida 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator Exam

Training and Education

We are committed to developing our employees both professionally and personally. In addition to in-service training, we encourage our employees to enroll in specialized training courses offered at the two (2) Regional Training Centers within our proximity.

Starting salary for Police Officers: $54,730.72.20
Starting salary for Police Communications Officers: $17.19/hr
