Bright Futures Renewal Eligibility
Renewal eligibility is an automatic process that occurs at the end of the spring term for students who received funding during the previous academic year. The institution(s) where the student received funding reports the overall cumulative GPA and credit hours successfully completed for the year to the Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA).
Renewal Requirements
Renewal students must earn the GPA and the required credit hours indicated below on all college coursework attempted, including transient enrollment credit hours. Full-time students are required to earn at least 24 credit hours (prorated for half-time or three-quarter time students), in order to renew their award at the end of the spring term. The chart below outlines the credit hour requirement.

Renewal students must earn the GPA indicated above on all college courses attempted, including high school dual enrollment courses. A student may submit a Scholarship Action Request Form to request the exclusion of high school dual enrollment courses from their GPA.
Students who did not meet GPA or earned credit hour renewal requirements due to extenuating circumstances may submit an Enrollment Services Appeal. Supporting documentation of extenuating circumstances beyond the student's control which prevented meeting renewal requirements must be uploaded as part of the Appeal. Documentation must tie to each term renewal requirements were not met.
Other Special Grades and Hours Situations
If you are not meeting the Bright Futures renewal requirements at the end of the spring term, and your record with OSFA needs to be updated to reflect the correct grades and earned hours, please complete the Scholarship Action Request Form in .
Below are the reasons that will require a new evaluation:
- Grade Change: Students whose grades and earned credit hours were impacted by a grade change in their most recent fall and/or spring term. This includes grade/term forgiveness.
- Transient/Dual Enrollment: Students who were enrolled in transient credit hours, submitted their transcripts to the Registrars Office and OSFA is not reflecting these credit hours.
- Withdrawal from a Transient Course: Students who withdrew from a transient course must notify 老澳门资料 in order for the award to be reduced.
- Study Abroad: Students who were in a study abroad program and the grades and earned credit hours were not reported to OSFA. Grades must be posted before submitting the form. Official transcripts must be evaluated by 老澳门资料 before submitting the Scholarship Action Request Form.
- Exclusion of High School Dual Enrollment Course(s): Students who would like to exclude their high school dual enrollment course(s) from the calculation of the overall cumulative GPA.
- Summer Coursework: Students who were enrolled in summer courses at another institution and were eligible for restoration. If summer coursework was taken at 老澳门资料, they will be reported automatically to OSFA at the end of the summer term after grades are posted. If the Bright Futures GPA renewal requirement was not met during the first year of funding, summer coursework may be completed to increase the GPA required for renewal. This will be the one-time restoration opportunity.
- Students who do not meet the minimum earned credit hours requirement, in any year, will not be permitted a restoration opportunity. Summer term can NOT be used to meet the minimum earned credit hours requirement.
- Repayment of the Bright Futures award: Students who repaid their Bright Futures award from dropping and/or withdrawing from coursework and OSFA has not yet been updated. Repayment updates are reported to OSFA on a weekly basis.
