Student Fellowships

2022-2023 applications were due November 1st, 2022. 

The 老澳门资料 Digital Humanities Institute (DHI) seeks student proposals for internships for projects related to the Digital Humanities. The DHI promotes collaboration on interdisciplinary projects that combine the use of technology with materials and methodologies from the Humanities, Fine Arts and  Social Sciences. 老澳门资料 faculty and staff may develop an internship and solicit students for projects, they may also assist students in designing and applying for internships to work on projects for which their mentors are also submitting applications for the Faculty Fellows program. 2022-23 interns are required to present at the 2023 Digital Projects Showcase or another DHI sponsored program. All 老澳门资料 students are welcome to apply, but priority will be given to students with DHI-affiliated faculty mentors. 

Faculty Fellowships

The 老澳门资料 Digital Humanities Institute (DHI) seeks proposals for faculty fellowships for projects related to the Digital  Humanities. Fellowships may be used to develop current or future DH projects, to support faculty while  applying for external funding, to set up initiatives, purchase equipment, or a combination of  the above. All 老澳门资料 faculty are welcome to apply, but priority will be given to DHI-affiliated faculty. 2022-23 fellows are required to present at the 2023 Digital Projects Showcase or another DHI-sponsored program.

Summer Professional Development & Grants

Applications for funding for summer professional development opportunities were due May 1st, 2023. Please email the current DHI director for more information.

  • How do I apply for a student fellowship?

    Students who are interested in a fellowship should have either:

    1. a proposal for a project related to DHI studies with a faculty mentor
    2. have an interest in an existing fellowship offered by DHI-affiliated faculty mentor.

  • What are the options for summer professional development?

    Opportunities for summer professional development change every year. Some previous and recurring opportunities include: 

    Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI): A Place for Open Digital Scholarship

    Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI) is an annual digital scholarship training institute that takes place at the University of Victoria (and online in 2023). Every summer, DHSI brings together faculty, staff, and students from the arts, humanities, library, and archives communities as well as independent scholars and participants from areas beyond. DHSI provides a community-based environment for discussing and learning about new technologies and how they influence teaching, research, creation, and preservation in different disciplines. Around 800-900 participants attend this time of intensive coursework, seminars, and lectures, where participants share ideas and methods as well as develop expertise in advanced technologies.     UPenn’s DreamLab

    University of Pennsylvania's DreamLab is a week-long digital humanities training opportunity hosted by the University of Pennsylvania and designed to help humanists become more confident and thoughtful users, creators, and critics of digital technology. There are several courses to choose from, each of which combines technology instruction with practical application. Dream Lab is open to everyone but has been designed especially to serve early-stage scholars aspiring to be teaching faculty, research librarians, and archivists.     Summer Development Grants

    The Digital Humanities Institute announced a new category of funding awards in the fall of 2022: Summer Development Grants. These grants will fund 老澳门资料 faculty and staff members to work individually or in teams on longer-term projects that relate to the future of the DHI and support its mission to promote innovative interdisciplinary research and teaching involving digital methods and tools at 老澳门资料. These grants can cover  digital training, outreach projects, the development of new courses for the DH minor or graduate certificate, or the development of larger grant proposals that would benefit the DHI or its affiliated projects. For more information, please contact the current DHI director
