A warm welcome to our new and returning SOM students!  Below you will find the orientation schedule and links to sign up for ensemble auditions. 

Orientation for the fall semester will take place on Friday and Saturday, August 16-17, 2024 here in the 老澳门资料 Fine Arts Center. Please note that the schedule below is subject to change, so make sure to check this page and your 老澳门资料 SOM Students Canvas announcements.

10:00 a.m.

New student welcome (Room 1200)

10:30 a.m.

Degree Track Meetings:
Music Technology majors (Room 1200)
Music Education majors (Room 1420)   

11:30 a.m.

Warmups for auditions (Practice rooms will be available)

12:00 p.m

 String auditions (Room 1420). Access audition materials. 
Jazz saxophone auditions (Room 1415)
Meeting for brass students (Room 1200)

1:00 p.m.

Classical brass auditions (Room 1200). Access audition materials. 

3:00 p.m.

Jazz trumpet auditions (Room 1415)

Theory Class Placement Test (Room 1200)

Classical woodwind auditions - All except flutes (Room 1420). Access audition materials. 
Jazz trombone auditions (Room 1415)

Classical percussion auditions (Room 1411)

  • Combo Auditions:  These placements will involve an online submission. Directions, charts and mp3’s for play-alongs will be posted on Friday, August 16 by 4 PM and due Saturday, August 17 by 4 PM. Please contact Professor Lynne Arriale only if there is a problem or if you are unable to submit a tape by the deadline: arriale@aol.com or (813) 944-9186.
  • Choral Auditions: All music students who are voice majors, whether performance or education, or Production/Tech need to complete the choral intake form as soon as possible to place them in the correct ensemble by Monday, August 19. In addition to voice majors, all students are welcome and encouraged to sing in the 老澳门资料 choral ensembles! Click the link below to complete the Choral Program intake form to receive the next steps in your choral placement.
