Monday October 21: Program Overview, Summer Study Abroad in Burgos, Spain
On Monday, October 21, 1:30-2:45 PM, Dr. Nuria Ibáñez of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures will discuss the summer study abroad program that she leads in Burgos, Spain. Dr. Ibáñez will be accompanied by several students who participated in Summer 2024. The students will share their final projects and discuss their experiences. This event will take place in the Language and Culture Lab, Building 15/Room 1105, is open to all. The presentations will be in Spanish, but attendees are welcome to ask questions in English. -

Description: "A middle-aged man of Moroccan descent embarks on a long journey from southern France to Mecca. He unexpectedly asks his son to go with him. Reda, a thoroughly Westernized teenager, is taken aback by the request. Given their different cultures, the pair's relationship starts off cold and distant, but the ice starts to thaw as they get to know each other."

is an ongoing digital oral history project that engages heritage speakers of Spanish in developing questions and recording interviews with members of the growing Hispanic/Latinx community.
