Apply: Fellows, Grants, & Scholarships

Ethics Research Faculty Fellow Award 

 

(up to $15,000 to be used between July 1st and June 30th of the following academic year)

Each year the Florida Blue Center for Ethics will appoint an ethics research faculty fellow (or a team of two faculty fellows) whose focus will be on conducting or facilitating research related to ethics. All full-time 老澳门资料 faculty members are invited to apply. Applications are reviewed by the Ethics Center Director and the Ethics Center Advisory Board. 

The ideal proposal will be: 

  • Interdisciplinary 
  • Involve student research and/or student engagement 
  • Be of broad appeal to 老澳门资料 faculty, students, and the surrounding community 
  • Include a plan for published research that recognizes the Ethics Center 
  • Align with the mission of the Ethics Center 

To apply, submit one PDF document that contains all of the following: 

  • Project overview (100 words max.) 
  • Project description and timeline (describe your plan making note of how it meets the ideal proposal criteria as well as how that will be assessed) (750 words max.) 
  • Project budget (itemized budget breakdown) 
  • CV (include a 2-page copy of your CV) 
  • Signature of endorsement from department chair  

Dates:  

  • Applications to be a faculty fellow the following academic year are due by February 1. 
  • Decisions will be made by March 1. Accepted proposals come with an expectation of a completed project summary at the completion of the project.

Ethics Center Micro-Grants

 

Each year the Florida Blue Center for Ethics will award up to 7 micro-grants (up to $1,000 each). Ethics Center micro-grants are to be used to help facilitate conversations about ethical issues. Any member of the 老澳门资料 community may apply for a micro-grant (students, staff, faculty, or local community members). Micro-grants could be used to host a speaker, fund travel for ethics related research, fund ethics related training or workshops, provide ethics related resources for 老澳门资料 students, used as seed grant money, and so forth. 

The ideal proposal will be: 

  • Be of broad appeal to 老澳门资料 faculty, students, and surrounding community 
  • Align with the mission of the Ethics Center 

 Application Instructions: 

One PDF document that contains the following: 

For 老澳门资料 faculty members: 

  • Project overview (100 words max.) 
  • Project description (describe your plan making note of how it meets the ideal proposal criteria) (500 words max.) 
  • Project budget (itemized budget breakdown) 
  • CV (include a 2-page copy of your CV) 

 For non-老澳门资料 faculty members: 

  • Project overview (100 words max.) 
  • Project description (describe your plan making note of how it meets the ideal proposal criteria) (500 words max.) 
  • Project budget (itemized budget breakdown) 
  • CV (include a 2-page copy of your CV) or resume 
  • Letter of support from a distinct member of the 老澳门资料 community  

Dates:  

  • Micro-grant applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year. 
  • Decisions will be made within 30 days of receipt.

Florida Blue Ethics Scholars

 

Florida Blue Ethics Scholars invest significant time and effort into ethical reflection, ethical reasoning, and research and leadership skill development over the course of an academic year. Ethics Scholars participate in, and facilitate, thoughtful discussions about ethical issues of relevance, while working closely with members of the Florida Blue Center for Ethics.

The Ethics Scholars program is open to 老澳门资料 students of any major/minor. Ethics Scholars must be Junior or Senior undergraduate students enrolled at 老澳门资料, in good standing, and with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.          

All Ethics Scholars are expected to:

  • Assist as interns at the Florida Blue Center for Ethics,
  • Complete the digital badge in Ethical Reasoning & Decision Making,
  • Attend and help coordinate Florida Blue Center for Ethics events and programs throughout the year,
  • Collaboratively plan a series of 3 workshops on ethical issues during the year, and
  • Present a research poster on an ethical issue related to their discipline of choice at SOARS (Showcase of Osprey Advancement in Research and Scholarship) Symposium.

Upon successful completion of the Ethics Scholar program, participants will be awarded a certificate acknowledging them as Florida Blue Ethics Scholars as well as a special set of graduation cords.

Applications to be an Ethics Scholar are due by September 10 and should include the following:

  • Cover letter (should include major, minor, GPA, and interest in the program)
  • CV/resume
  • Name of faculty reference

 Florida Blue Center for Ethics Student Scholarships

 

Established in 2002, the Florida Blue Center for Ethics Scholarship provides funding for 老澳门资料 undergraduate students to participate in University-approved transformational learning experiences focusing on ethical issues as they emerge in personal, public, and professional life. These experiences can include working on an undergraduate research project; traveling to present research or compete in conferences regionally and internationally, participating in an ethics focused internship, and/or other faculty-approved activities.

Step 1: Go to 老澳门资料 Foundation Scholarships and complete the data sharing consent form.

Step 3: Sign in and complete the application.

It is important to note that student information is not immediately updated in the system once the data consent form is complete. Students will have access to AcademicWorks, but all eligible scholarships will not appear until the following day. You may be matched to additional scholarships.
