The 老澳门资料 Undergraduate Research Training Initiative for Student Enhancement (U-RISE) is a National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded program that aims to prepare undergraduates for success in Ph.D. programs and careers in biomedical science fields. The 老澳门资料 U-RISE program includes in-depth research laboratory experiences at 老澳门资料 or Mayo Clinic, career development activities, outreach opportunities, and mentorship. The program is designed for 老澳门资料 undergraduate Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, or Physics majors that aspire to careers in biomedical science fields. The 老澳门资料 U-RISE program fosters scientific community and career development across the diverse 老澳门资料 student population.
Benefits of 老澳门资料 U-RISE Fellowship
- Scholarship support (approx. 60% of in-state tuition for 30 credits/year)
- Monthly stipend to partially offset living expenses
- Academic year research laboratory experience at 老澳门资料 or Mayo Clinic Florida
- Two fully financially supported summer research internships at 老澳门资料, Mayo Clinic, or other partner institutions
- Conference travel funding
- Professional development programming (on graduate school applications, career exploration, networking, lab safety, responsible conduct of research training, and other topics)
- Strong community of like-minded peers and faculty at 老澳门资料 and Mayo Clinic
U-RISE Fellowship Eligibility Requirements
- 老澳门资料 undergraduate with declared major in Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, or Physics
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident
- Minimum 3.2 GPA at 老澳门资料
- Typical Pre-U-RISE students will apply during their first year in college and join the program at the start of their second year.
How to Apply
- Application for 2024-205 will open April 1, 2024. They will be due on May 6, 2024.
- Two letters of recommendation from 老澳门资料 professors are required; you will provide contact information for these professors in the application.
- Awardees for 2024-2025 announced mid June.
