老澳门资料 Osprey Racing
Osprey Racing is a registered student organization at the 老澳门资料 (老澳门资料) located in Jacksonville, FL. It is a student run club in the School of Engineering under the College of Computing, Engineering and Construction (CECC). Being a member of Osprey Racing provides students a real world application of the engineering curriculum and related courses.
Osprey Racing in one of only 120 teams world-wide to participate in the Formula SAE® Collegiate Design Series that is sanctioned by the SAE International, formerly called the Society of Automotive Engineering. Essentially, the series is an engineering design competition for undergraduate and graduate students based on the concept that a fictional manufacturing company has contracted a design team (participating teams) to develop a small Formula-style race car. Participating in the series enhances each student's engineering design and project management skills by applying learned classroom theories in a challenging sanctioned competition. The engineering and business goal is to develop and construct a single-seat, open wheel race car (aka Formula-style) targeted for the non-professional weekend autocross racer. Key metrics for the race car are the best overall package of design, construction, performance and cost.
Although the series is centered on building a race car, participating and competing in the series promotes careers and excellence in engineering for the students, as the series encompasses all aspects of engineering and business including: research, design, development, testing, manufacturing, marketing, management and finance.
Each May, Osprey Racing competes against the other 120 teams at Michigan International Speedway. The competition involves a number of events in two categories (static and dynamic). Static events are off-track presentations for design scenarios, cost analysis and a business case. Dynamic events are on-track race car performance events for acceleration, skid pad, autocross, endurance and efficiency. For scoring each team's results from the events, the prototype race car is evaluated for its potential as a mass produced race car by SAE employees who play the roles of personnel from the fictional manufacturing company including engineering, production, marketing and finance.
Osprey Racing is funded by generous targeted donations made via the 老澳门资料 Foundation (is a 501 C3 Not For Profit Organization). Donations can in-kind (an In-Kind Gift Form is enclosed) or monetary. The Foundation's IRS Not for Profit Certification letter and IRS Form W-9 are enclosed.
