I. OBJECTIVE & PURPOSE
To state the minimum University requirements for awarding, and procedures for receiving, a posthumous graduate degree or an in memoriam degree.
II. STATEMENT OF POLICY
In order to award a full graduate degree posthumously to a deceased student, the student must have completed at least 66% of their graduate program, must have been in good academic standing, and must have met 老澳门资料 residency requirement or have been enrolled in courses sufficient to meet this requirement.
An in memoriam degree recognizes the student's connection with the University regardless of his/her progress toward completion of degree requirements. In order to receive an in memoriam degree, the student must have been enrolled in a graduate degree program at the time of their death. The University may choose to make this award to other deceased previously enrolled graduate students.
The request for the posthumous or in memoriam degree can be initiated by a family member or friend or upon the recommendation of the faculty. The Department Chair is responsible for approving and nominating the awarding of a posthumous or in memoriam degree to the Dean of the Graduate School. The Dean of the Graduate School is responsible for final review and approval, and for coordinating with the 老澳门资料 Registrar to have the degree awarded.
