I. OBJECTIVE & PURPOSE

To establish policies for the acceptance of credit through Acceleration Mechanisms and assure compliance with BOG regulation 6.006, F.S. 1007.25, SBE Rule 6A-10.024, and BOG regulation 6.013(2).

II. STATEMENT OF POLICY

The University will accept credit awarded through one or a combination of state-approved acceleration mechanisms not to exceed forty-five (45) credit hours. Credits awarded through this method must meet or exceed minimum scores established by the Statewide Articulation Agreement Articulation Coordinating Committee (ACC) in the Credit-by-Exam Guidelines as annually approved by the Florida Board of Governors.

University faculty are responsible for determining minimum scores acceptable for awarding accelerated credit for course work in their disciplines. Applying accelerated mechanism credit does not guarantee success in subsequent coursework and at the upper division.

III. STATEMENT OF PROCEDURES

  1. Upon receipt of all official transcripts and score reports, the Office of Admissions will accept credit awarded through Acceleration Mechanisms as described in the University Catalog.
  2. Regarding credit for military training and education courses:
    1. College credit will be granted to students with military training, experience, or coursework that is recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE) and the Articulation Coordinating Committee Credit for Military Experience Equivalency List. Military training, experience or coursework is subject to regular institution transfer practices including limitations on amount (maximum of 21 hours) and level of transfer credit. The process is subject to the same treatment as any other transfer credit evaluated.
    2. If the course to which the military training or coursework is equivalent fulfills a general education or major course or degree program requirement at the receiving institution, the credit should count towards graduation and meet a requirement accordingly. Otherwise, appropriate course credit including free elective course credit will be granted.
    3. The credit that was previously evaluated and awarded by a college degree granting institution, and that is appropriate to the student's major at the university, should be accepted in transfer subject to institutional limit on the amount and level of transfer credit allowed for a given degree.
  3. Regarding credit for dual enrollment courses:
    1. 老澳门资料 will award credit for specific courses for which competency has been demonstrated by successful completion of an approved dual enrollment course or examination.
    2. Official college transcripts must be provided to the 老澳门资料 Admissions Office for dual enrollment credit to be applied. Dual enrollment credits will not be applied solely from the high school transcript.
    3. Effective beginning with students admitted Summer Semester 2009, early college dual enrollment courses that meet core state university admission requirements as specified in Board of Governors Regulation 6.002(6)(a)(1)) shall receive the same weighting as Advanced Placement course in the calculation of the high school grade point average used for 老澳门资料 admission decisions.
    4. 老澳门资料 will provide dual enrollment and early college opportunities for area high school students pending an active district or high school Dual Enrollment Agreement with 老澳门资料 and upon stated approval each term from the appropriate high school official.
    5. 老澳门资料 will provide dual enrollment and early college opportunities for area home school students who meet admissions eligibility in accordance with F.S. 1007.271.
  4. Pursuant to Florida statute 1009.286, BOG 7.003, and 6.013 the following are exempt from the excess credit hour surcharge at 老澳门资料:
    1. Accelerated mechanisms including AP, IB, CLEP, and AICE
    2. Credit awarded for military education and training
    3. Credit taken by active-duty military personnel
    4. Credit hours earned while participating in a Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program
    5. Credit hours earned through dual enrollment.

Total credits awarded through accelerated mechanisms will be noted on the 老澳门资料 transcript and applied to 老澳门资料 degree requirements as applicable.
