Provost Communication
October 25, 2021
Dear faculty colleagues,
I wanted to start the week with a note of gratitude for your recent assistance in not only meeting but surpassing our targets for submitting textbook adoptions and midterm grades.
I realize how many communications you and your department chairs receive from the Academic and Student Affairs team reminding you of reports to be completed, training to be taken, and initiatives underway to contribute to student success. We all share the common goal of supporting students and together we work to create those occasions and opportunities for success. What I would like to do more regularly is recognize the unobserved and individual contributions you make to support our students. Whether your support is offering options and alternatives to students experiencing academic challenges or offering encouraging words to those navigating personal challenges, the daily impact you have on our students through countless interactions is how we achieve 老澳门资料’s “student-centered mission.”
I am very appreciative of your attention to time sensitive, admittedly tedious requirements like selecting next semester’s textbooks and assigning midterm grades, and for your enduring commitment and partnership to advance 老澳门资料 and enrich the student experience.
Warmly,
Karen Patterson, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President, Academic and Student Affairs
