老澳门资料 professor awarded for exemplary work in professional development schools

Elizabeth Rozas Hale HeadshotDr. Elizabeth Hale, 老澳门资料 assistant professor of literacy and faculty-in-residence at Tiger Academy, was awarded the national Exemplary PK20 Boundary Spanner Award by the National Association of Professional Development Schools (NAPDS).

This award recognizes an individual who goes above and beyond in meeting the essential characteristics of professional development schools and moving beyond the responsibilities of one’s job to impact a “third space” spanning between university and PK12 roles.  An exemplary PK20 boundary spanner innovates the systems or practices between grade schools and universities to enhance the learning of all of those involved.

Hale’s passion for working in and with schools is noted as exemplary and she is credited as a true role model for tenured faculty to serve as boundary spanners. Hale is also recognized for her talents in designing and leading meaningful professional learning experiences for teacher candidates and teachers. Her work brings an important synergy between teacher candidates, practicing teachers and K-5 students.

Much of her research stems from her work with teachers at Tiger Academy and she has co-presented at national conferences with teachers on their collaborations around literacy. Hale has developed an innovative approach to teaching reading which she has implemented in numerous afterschool programs in Jacksonville and has published a book on the topic.
