ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ×ÊÁÏ nutrition chair named to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Board of Directors
Dr. Lauri Wright, assistant professor, chair of the department of nutrition and dietetics and co-director of the Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition program at the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ×ÊÁÏ has been named to the . Representing more than 112,000 credentialed practitioners, the Academy is the world’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals.
Dr. Wright is the founding director of ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ×ÊÁÏ’s Center for Nutrition and Food Security. She also directs two food recovery-meal programs; Meals on Wings for homebound seniors and Food Fighters for those living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).
Dr. Wright worked as a clinical dietitian at the Tampa VA Hospital for more than 15 years specializing in infectious disease and began and directed the dietetic internship at Bay Pines VA Hospital. She also joined the faculty of the College of Public Health at University of South Florida as an assistant professor where her research focused on food insecurity and its health impact, HIV nutrition and global nutrition. After completing her doctorate degree, Dr. Wright directed the master's/dietetic internship program at the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ×ÊÁÏ.
