老澳门资料 THRIVE program director recognized with National Innovative Practices in Transition Award

Tara Rowe headshotDr. Tara Rowe, 老澳门资料 THRIVE program director and Disability Resource Center (DRC) adjunct instructor, is being recognized with the Marc Gold Innovative Practices in Transition award from the Division on Career Development and Transition (DCDT) at the national DCDT conference this Friday, Oct. 23.  

This is award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated innovation in transition services and is named after Marc Gold whose innovative “Try Another Way” approach opened the door to employment for many students with severe disabilities.

Rowe is recognized for her contributions to the field and her work with 老澳门资料’s THRIVE (Transition to Healthiness, Resourcefulness, Independence, Vocation and Education) program that supports 老澳门资料 students with autism spectrum disorders on campus and ensures these students have successful collegiate benchmarks. Rowe is the co-founder of this program that was developed with staff from the University’s DRC and the College of Education and Human Services.

Rowe has worked with 老澳门资料 since 2009. She completed her educational leadership doctorate at the University and collaborates with other institutions on supporting students with disabilities. She also serves as an adjunct instructor, teaching courses for the College of Education and Human Services where she centers her research on self-determination for all students. 

The mission of the Division of Career Development and Transition is to promote national and international efforts to improve the quality of and access to, career/vocational and transition services, increase the participation of education in career development and transition goals and to influence policies affecting career development and transition services for persons with disabilities.
