Shelving Policy
This is written to advise you of a potential safety hazard regarding wall mounted book cases, cabinets and shelving units.
Some departments have purchased these units and had them installed by local vendors who are not familiar with the wall partition systems existing on campus. Consequently, shelving has been improperly mounted to the wallboard and metal studs.
Therefore, all wall cabinets and shelving installations should be coordinated through Physical Facilities to ensure proper design and load considerations.
If you have existing units that are not anchored at the floor or furniture underneath, please call this office at extension 2019 to arrange for an evaluation.
