Media Week 2019
The 老澳门资料 School of Communication's Media Week 2019 will be held Oct. 21 to 25. Sessions will include: "Sticks and Stones, How the Words We Use can Unite or Divide Us;" "Pitching: How Journalists and Public Relations Professionals Work Together;" "Uncovering Jax - Season 2," an online event; an Alumni Panel and Reception; a special session for graduate students on the advantages of joining professional associations; and, of course, Breakouts for each of the School's areas of study (public relations, advertising, digital video production and multimedia journalism) along with the popular "Lunch with the Professionals."
The week will culminate with the Social Media Expo JAX on Friday, Oct. 25, held at Herbert University Center. Comm Connect Student Spotlight, Jesse Hinckley
As a Marketing Specialist Intern at Out of Dust Marketing and Communication, Senior Advertising Student Jesse Hinckley works first hand with clients, crafting both professional and unique social media content for them to use. His strong skills in Adobe Photoshop, Indesign, and illustrator gives him a leg-up when designing digital ads for the company along with writing press releases and SEO articles. "I enjoy finding creative ways to communicate with people," Hinckley says, "that's why I chose this path."
Work isn't the only place where Hinckley's creativity shines. He began playing music as a child and has been pursuing it ever since. He even took a year off from school to work as a worship leader in St. Louis, Missouri. "I lead worship services, designed stage and lighting layouts, helped students develop their musical skills, and planned weekly services." Here, he gained crucial skills in both organization and leadership, two qualities that he will carry with him after graduation. Hinckley's creativity and ingenuity combine to make him a clear front-runner in the eyes of future employers. His current and past experiences prove that he is a strong, dedicated work, who truly isn't afraid to think outside the box.
