Description:

Approximately 100 to 200 wild rose species grow naturally around the world in the northern hemisphere. Like most garden roses, this one is complex hybrids of these species. Lady Elise Rose is a vigorous, disease-resistant shrub rose with coral-pink flowers that are produced over a long season. The fragrance is reported to be "slight."

Location:

See this plant in Alumni Square to the north of the Book Store.

Size:

Shrub to four or five feet tall.

Care Instructions:

Light: full sun to part shade

Water: well-drained soil, somewhat drought tolerant

Soil: average garden soil, responds well to fertilizer

In general, roses grow well in a well-drained soil, in full sun, in a spot with good air circulation. They flower on new growth. Encouraging new growth with irrigation and fertilizer results in more flowers. Good air circulation helps control fungal disease.
