Chinese hibiscus is native to Asia but is cultivated around the world for its large flowers. The foliage is evergreen in warm climates. The original color was red but hundreds of varieties display nearly every color but true blue and purple. Flowers range in size from about four to ten inches across. At least one selection is grown for its variegated foliage. Plants grow from six to fifteen feet in height.
