Description:
This plant looks somewhat like a fern but is a flowering plant related to the edible asparagus plant. It is native to southern Africa and thrives in hot, dry sites. This plant produces small red fruits. These fruits are eaten by birds that disperse the seeds.
Care Instructions:
PEST: This plant is listed as an exotic pest plant in Florida (Appendix 1 by the Exotic Pest Plant Council) and has proven to be weedy on campus. Landscape staff is removing this plant from the campus landscape.
